Women Centred Yoga Sessions and Retreats

it's time to come home . . . 

​We created Mandorla so that women like you would have a safe place to experience meaningful relationships and inspiration. Some of us have children and some of us don't, but what we share is the belief that it is time for women to come together. Our women centred sessions and retreats are led by women who are just like you. It is an opportunity to commit to self-care on a deep level in a sacred space. This is yoga taught in a personal and beautiful way. Movement is married with sincere dialogue and we share rich techniques for your self-healing journey that include yoga, meditation, breath-work, chanting of mantra and journaling. ​We specialize in classes that include yin, restorative and vinyasa yoga married with supportive Thai Yoga Massage. We offer private and group sessions, workshops and retreats. 

The Embodiment Immersion is coming Fall 2018!

Join us for an embodiment yoga experience this coming Fall/Winter on either a Tuesday or Thursday evening from 6pm to 9pm. This is an opportunity to begin or deepen a gentle practice of stillness and movement.  Reconnect with your own heart, while connecting with other like minded women. The layout for this experience is the same material that we provide for the members of our yoga teacher training programs, and if you wish, you can save the credits from the hours you attend for a future teacher training. We will share with you all of the beautiful Mandorla practices that lead back into relationship with your body. No previous experience or level of flexibility is needed. This is about coming HOME to yourself, cultivating SELF-LOVE and finding joyful ease in your body. And if you miss a class, you can easily make up a class on the alternate evening. 

One Class per Week, Investment of $592.50 plus GST
Two Classes per Week, Investment of $1185 plus GST

To encourage a safe and supportive environment, all of our women's groups are by registration only. Mamas, let us know if you need help with your little ones. At times we are able to arrange mindful childcare. We offer our women centred and body positive yoga approach in private sessions for those who would feel more comfortable in a nurturing one on one environment. What is Thai Yoga Therapy? 
Thai Yoga Therapy is a nurturing and trauma informed approach to massage therapy and yoga therapy that integrates stretching, acupressure and movement within a series of gentle restorative yoga postures. Participants are fully clothed and sessions are offered on both the massage table and on the floor. ​

Thai Yoga Therapy is the creation of Stefani Wilton, a Registered Massage Therapist, Certified Yoga Therapist and the founder of Mandorla Yoga. It is her personal blend of:
  • Thai Yoga Massage for helping you to move tension out of your body
  • Yoga Therapy to restore easeful breathing, peace of mind and emotional resilience
  • craniosacral therapy and supported restorative yoga postures to restore health to the nervous system
  • Ayurvedic marma therapy and energy work for supporting the release of difficult thoughts and emotions and restoring health to your energy systems
  • Ayurvedic yoga therapy for understanding and supporting your individual constitution and imbalances
Thai Yoga Therapy for Pregnancy, Postpartum and Women's Health
As a specialist in Women's Health, Stefani has magical techniques for women who are currently pregnant, postpartum or going through reproductive health issues. 
How Thai Yoga Therapy Supports Mental Health and Emotional Resiliency
The beauty of the mind body connection is that we can instigate emotional and mental shifts by creating small changes in the ways that we move and breathe. Many times, we are unaware of how we are holding tension in our body and limiting our breath. By working with Stefani in a Thai yoga therapy session, you are supported in learning to recognize where you are holding tension in your body and empowered with techniques for releasing that tension. Tension can arise in the form of aching muscles but it can also be held in locked breathing patterns and ways that we neurologically respond to circumstances we encounter such as stress or trauma.  In a private appointment, you are assisted in finding your place of ease in both your body and mind.​
 
What does a session look like?
As a trained Yoga Therapist, Stefani will start you in a posture that feels both safe and comfortable for you. For some people, this may mean starting in a posture on the floor, while for others, we may start on the massage table. Once you are comfortably situated, Stefani will lead you through a series of gentle cues to help you find a place of ease in your breath and body. This is an ongoing dialogue, where we begin to listen to what arises in your body and mind through a process of body scanning. As you become aware of areas where you feel tension, Stefani will support you in gentle postures that help you to release that tension.

Because tension is not just something that we experience physically, we will choose postures and movements that honour what is happening for you emotionally and mentally. Sometimes we need to rest in stillness, while other times, we need to move. You will never be forced to stay in a posture or movement that is uncomfortable for you. 

Sessions are trauma informed, which means that we can stop the session at any time. Your eyes can be opened or closed. You are fully clothed at all times. Stefani will ask for your consent throughout the session and will never make assumptions about what is or is not comfortable for you. 

As a trained massage therapist, Stefani reads your body as the sessions progress, using her knowledge of the body to support you in unraveling those areas that hold you back from optimal movement and enjoyment of your life. She will also support you in re-patterning your body and finding a place of tension free strength.


Stefani is a Registered Massage Therapist and Certified Yoga Therapist. Appointments with Stefani are covered by ALL health care plans in Alberta.
