Mandorla Yoga Institute’s 300-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training in Somatic Energetic Yoga Therapy was thoughtfully designed for those looking to explore how yoga can be used as a therapeutic and somatic tool for body-based energetic healing, this program emphasizes working with the energy body to support trauma healing and recovery through somatic myofascial re-patterning and energy work. This program is structured in a unique way to support your own healing journey as you study how to support your students and clients. You will not only learn about Somatic Yoga Therapy but you are also immersed in the experience of your own embodiment. The hybrid (in-person & online) structure of the program allows you to complete the majority of your studies online via our live online classroom that meets only 2 hours per week with additional pre-recorded materials, self-practice, group work and reading assignments. Students are required to come to Calgary, AB once for this training for a 5-day in-person immersion, and can expect to invest 3 - 7 hours weekly in self-directed studies.
This intimate yearlong training is intentionally small and is offered only once per year with an alternating AM and PM option. Admission to this program is through an application process. Applicants with 200-hour certification or Master's level education in a mental health related field, need to complete the 75-hour bridge program in Somatic Yoga Therapy Foundations. Graduates of the 200-hour Somatic Embodiment Yoga Teacher Training through MYI may apply directly.
This relationship-oriented program is created for yoga teachers aspiring to become yoga therapists and individuals already working in the field of mind/body therapy. Our trauma-informed approach to yoga is used by our graduates in mental health clinics, secondary schools, yoga studios, and retreat centers, and is suitable for both individual and group work.
In this training, you will be immersed in the study of Yoga Therapy that supports the Somatic Energetic expression of the body, through the lens of the Pranamayakosha (the energy body). This training includes exploration of Ayurvedic psychology and energy work with the focus of this training being on how we work with energetic statements in the form of myofascial tension patterns held within the body. Using somatic yoga as our tool, we thoroughly explore how to repattern the body and release held tension through static and dynamic movement, breath, meditation, mantra, and mudra - all through the lens of embodiment.
The 300-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training in Somatic Energetic Yoga Therapy is one of four learning modules in the 875-hour Somatic Yoga Therapist Certification Program. As a stand-alone training, graduates will earn a 300-hour certification in Advanced Somatic Embodiment Yoga; 200-Hour Yoga Teachers may take this training to build on to their existing training hours, providing them with the RYT500 designation, those already having a 500-Hour designation, earn their RYT800 with the Canadian Yoga Alliance.
Graduates may use the terms 'Yoga Therapist' or 'Somatic Yoga Therapist' upon graduation from the 875-hour Somatic Yoga Therapist training by completing the remaining two modules of the program, which are the 300-hour Advanced YTT in Somatic Emotional Yoga Therapy, and the 200-hour Mentoring Practicum.
