We are taught from a young age to suppress our emotions, to not make a scene, to keep the peace. And so we do. We stuff if down. We say that we are fine, when we are not and perpetuate the cycle of suffering. But where do all of those suppressed emotions go? They become locked in our bodies, within our tissue, our muscles, our nervous systems. In order to fully heal, we need to work with the Mind and the Body. We need to move those places that are stuck and release the grief, the sadness, and the anxiety that we carry. We need to work with our nervous system and help it to release its trauma pattern, so that we can experience, not just relief, but resilience. This past year, I have had the honour of studying with Ratha Chek, her beautiful approach to Somatic Therapy for the Mind and Body. Integrating mindfulness, gentle breathing, bodywork and restorative yoga naps, you are supported in finding stabilizing resources within your own body and held lovingly while you release those painful things that you have been carrying. Some of the work feels vulnerable or messy, but I promise you that the space I hold for you is loving enough to hold all that you bring to the space.
