How Yoga Therapy Supports Anxiety, Depression and Stress
Often, when we feel stressed, overwhelmed or anxious, we don't know where to begin to change our situation. The beauty of the mind body connection is that we can instigate emotional and mental shifts by creating small changes in the ways that we move and breathe. Many times, we are unaware of how we are holding tension in our body and limiting our breath. By working with Stefani in a yoga therapy session, you are supported in learning to recognize where you are holding tension in your body and empowered with techniques for releasing that tension. Tension can arise in the form of aching muscles but it can also be held in locked breathing patterns and ways that we neurologically respond to circumstances we encounter such as stress or trauma. In a private appointment, you are assisted in finding your place of ease in both your body and mind through discussion, breath work and therapeutic postures that are specifically chosen for your individual needs.
What does a session look like?
At the start of most sessions, we begin with a gentle restorative yoga pose on the floor. In a restorative pose, your body is supported with props so that you can facilitate the release of tension that is held in your body. Taking time to slow down and connect with your breath, we can begin the process of settling the monkey mind. Through respectful dialogue we tune into how you are feeling physically and emotionally in this moment, choosing postures and breathing techniques to support you in bringing balance to your body and mind. Movement begins in a simple, uncomplicated way and we work from the ground up, lying down to all fours to standing. At the end of most sessions, we return to a restorative posture where we explore a brief meditation or return to soft and easeful breathing.
The Mandorla Method
In your sessions, you can expect to follow a protocol that Stefani has cultivated through her 17 years of sharing this art form. This is not a linear approach with hidden agendas or goals. Stefani simply gets to know you, gets to understand how you best respond - either through movement or stillness. It is a relationship that she deeply respects and honours in every session using the 5 Mandorla pillars: Melt, Breathe, Restore, Nurture and Empower.

Your core muscles are a lot more than your abs. We often think we are strengthening our core and our abs aren't getting engaged! This is often because other muscles, such as the hip flexors are firing too aggressively. In CORE RESTORE YOGA, we release tension areas in the legs and hips and utilize orthopedic yoga techniques to isolate and support the entire core muscle group in firing properly. Comprised mainly of floor work, students can expect to see an increase in stability, flexibility, range of motion and pelvic floor strength.

Learn the nourishing practices that yoga offers for supporting the reproductive system and your menstrual cycle. We will share unique techniques including postures and breathwork to help you alleviate pain and better honour your monthly cycle.
Yoga4Moms is an authentic and heartfelt yoga class with supportive teachers and other mothers that INCLUDES ONSITE CHILDCARE. The Yoga4Moms approach includes meditation, talks about philosophy along with meaningful conversation and gentle yoga practices. The yoga that we share with you is helpful for parenting your children with mindfulness and more importantly, the techniques are ones that you will have time to do at home. Accessibility is high on our list of priorities! At the end of each session, our intention is for you to feel RESTED, REPLENISHED AND INSPIRED.
