The word "Mandorla" comes from our founder Stefani's cultural studies background. Italian for 'almond', a mandorla is the almond-shaped space that occurs when two perfectly shaped circles overlap. Used to represent the perfect balance of two opposites, the word Mandorla, for us, reminds us that we are both divine and human, beautiful and flawed.
We call our yoga style ELEMENTAL VINYASA FLOW YOGA for two reasons. First, our style is inspired by the elements of Ayurveda: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. We draw from this inspiration to create meaningful class plans with the intention of helping you bring balance to your body and mind. Secondly, we believe that yoga is an innate practice, something that we all were born doing naturally. We hope that through our teaching approach, you are supported in more deeply connecting with your own innate intelligence to clearly hear your own inner voice and feel more decisive, inspired and confident.
It is our honour to support you through our private yoga and massage sessions.
Mandorla Yoga Institute is a Registered Yoga School and accredited Thai Massage School offering Yoga Alliance approved yoga teacher training at the 200 hour (RYT200) and 300 hour (RYT500) level and an NHPC accredited Thai Yoga Massage Practitioner training. Teaching teachers since 2007, all of our programs are specifically geared toward adult learners, from the formatting of the curriculum to the flexibility in which you can complete your coursework. Mandorla trainings have a history of creating solid, knowledgeable teachers and practitioners with an awareness of the history and philosophy of yoga as well as excellence in the teaching of adaptive and accessible yoga and Thai massage sessions. Drawing on influences from Thai Yoga Massage, Yoga Therapy, Vinyasa Flow, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Myofascial research, TCM, Ayurveda, Orthopedic Exercise Principles, and Kinetics, Mandorla teachers graduate with a strong foundation that enables them to excel as teachers and communicators.
We pride ourselves in offering a training that embraces and encourages a wide view of what a yoga teacher’s path can be. While students are taught how to teach in a studio atmosphere, we also facilitate an integrated yoga approach that sees yoga weaved into many other avenues, professions and outlets. The goal of the Mandorla Institute’s teacher training is to facilitate the opening of awareness in each student so that the student may come to have a better relationship with themselves and others. Mandorla Yoga implements breath-work, meditation and asana within its classes to facilitate this in a non-dogmatic and embracing way for all of its students, under the premise that the best teachers are those who form a relationship with their students and provide a nurturing environment. How that environment is shaped, is entirely up to you.
